Volkswagen was founded in Germany 1934 to create ‘the people’s car’. The iconic Beetle was designed by Ferdinand Porsche. The car had to be suitable for the German people, it was designed with fuel economy, quality and practical usage in mind. The Beetle’s distinctive appearance is unmistakable and is hailed as ground breaking design. The Volkswagen Golf was launched in 1974 and has been the mainstay of the Volkswagen range since its introduction, and the mechanical blueprint for other models. The Beetle and the Golf have been redesigned to keep them contemporary, and remain firm favourites.
