The German car manufacturer BMW has been in business since 1916 and since then has become an outstanding global brand name. BMW vehicles are renowned for their high performance and low emissions, with features such as dynamic stability control, auto start and stop functions, adaptive headlights and night vision. BMW cars are also famous for their safety; in fact BMW was voted the “Top Safety Pick” of the 2009 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. As you would expect with an intrinsically German brand, BMW are serious about their automobiles, but there is also a fun side to their work. BMW’s April Fools jokes, widely printed in the British press, are legendary. In 2010, they ran an advert announcing that customers could pre-order BMWs with different coloured badges to show their political allegiance.
