2022 SGS Local Hero Awards Open for Entries

Nominate a tradesperson who has gone above and beyond to help, and they could win an incredible prize worth £1,000.

In 2021, we launched our inaugural Local Hero Awards to celebrate the outstanding contributions of tradespeople in your community who stepped up during the Covid-19 pandemic. The response was overwhelming, with countless stories highlighting the dedication of builders, plumbers, electricians, joiners, gardeners, mechanics, and other skilled workers who did so much to assist their local areas during these challenging times.

With so many inspiring stories of tradespeople going the extra mile for their customers, we are thrilled to announce the opening of the Local Hero Awards 2022. We invite people from all over Britain to nominate tradespeople who have made a significant impact in their lives or communities.

As a supplier of air compressors, gas struts, tool chests, power tools, garage equipment, garden tools, and a wide array of other products to the trade, we are particularly keen to celebrate and reward those in our industry—builders, plumbers, electricians, joiners, gardeners, mechanics, and more—who have gone above and beyond to assist those in need over the past year.

Awards Overview

One national winner will be crowned, alongside up to five regional winners. The prizes for the awards are as follows:

• Overall National Winner: £1,000 cash prize.
• Regional Winner (Scotland): £250 cash prize.
• Regional Winner (Northern England): £250 cash prize.
• Regional Winner (Midlands & Southern England): £250 cash prize.
• Regional Winner (Wales): £250 cash prize.
• Regional Winner (Northern Ireland): £250 cash prize.

Nominating someone for a Local Hero Award is completely free and straightforward. Simply fill out our entry form, which can be found below.

When making a nomination, please include details about the tradesperson who helped you (or a friend or family member), what specific assistance they provided, and when their support took place.

Expert judges from SGS will review all entries and select the finalists. This is your chance to honour the hard work and dedication of those who have made a difference in your community.

How to Nominate

Participating in the Local Hero Awards is simple. To make a nomination:

1. Visit our entry form.
2. Fill out the required information about the tradesperson you wish to nominate.
3. Provide details about what they did and when they did it.

Make sure your nomination is submitted before the deadline of 11:59 PM on 10th April 2022.

What Happens Next?

Once the nomination period closes, our expert judges will carefully review all entries. The finalists will be selected based on the heartwarming stories and significant contributions of the nominees. The shortlisted individuals will be contacted and announced publicly on 15th April 2022.

Following the announcement, a public voting poll will open, allowing everyone to participate in choosing the overall national winner and the regional winners. This is your opportunity to support your local hero and ensure their efforts are recognised on a wider scale.
