SGS is a proud sponsor and avid supporter of Synetiq BMW Superbike Racing Team and we had the opportunity to stand together with our favourite Superbike racing team in Round 3 of the Bennetts BSB Championship at Donington Park. Thanks to Milwaukee, Synetiq BMW Team Manager Steve Plater and PR & Business Development Manager Paul Lindsay, we were able to witness first-hand, the peaks and troughs of the fierce competition at Bennetts British Superbike with full paddock access. Our team was impressed with the professionalism and focus of Synetiq's crew, working together with racers Danny Buchan and Andrew Irwin aiming to grab a spot on the podium.
We thank our partners from Milwaukee who provided the excellent hospitality for our representatives who were able to stay on top of the events as they unfolded. They were fortunate to meet Buchan and Irwin and were delighted to get first hand impressions on the day-in-the-life of being a professional superbike racer. When asked how it feels to reach 167mph at Donington Park on two wheels, Buchan replied "With time and practice, you end up feeling the bike - the suspension, steering, the track under the wheels. You become more confident and constantly push the edge - sprint that little bit faster on the straights, corner that little bit more aggressively. You keep pushing the limits - both yours and the bike's."
The event was not without its hurdles. Synetiq's racer Irwin was managing a hand injury suffered in an unfortunate crash during qualifying on Saturday prior to Sunday's main events. However, with massive support from his team and desire for competition, he opted to power through his injury and successfully completed both races of the day.
Despite not securing the desired results, both Buchan and Irwin proved their resilience and skill on the track, offering yet another great display for the thousands of motor sport fans present on the day. SGS remain proud supporters of the Synetiq team and hope to see them rise to the heights they are aiming for.
