About Us

Established as a gas strut manufacturer in 2003, SGS Engineering was founded on 3 core principles: Exacting product quality standards, value for money and convenient, rapid, internet-based distribution. UK gas strut customers used to wait weeks to import OEM gas struts but when SGS came along, customers could expect their strut manufactured to custom spec, and delivered next day. Since then, our product ranges have grown and we now cover all your DIY & trade needs from power tools to tool storage to garage, garden & more, and our gas struts have been spun off into our family brand, Nitrolift. But despite this expansion, our 3 core principles have remained the same, we still deliver high quality products at excellent value for money and can still offer next day delivery on the vast majority of our offerings.
We continue our journey of striving for excellence, upping our game and expanding our offerings time after time to give our loyal, UK based customer base the quality products and service they deserve. Our UK sales and customer service teams offer expert advice and top-notch service, we've expanded our showroom to give customers hands on experience with our products, and we continually improve and add more to our digital offerings through our website.
Designed and Manufactured by SGS
SGS design and produce NitroLift gas struts in our UK manufacturing facility based in Derby. We’re the leading manufacturer of gas struts in the UK, a reflection of our commitment to quality and service. With our experience in precision engineering, the NitroLift product range has grown from just car gas struts, we now supply gas struts for uses including beds, outdoor bars, kitchens, horse trailers, caravans and more. In fact, we even offer a fully custom manufacturing service, meaning customers can spec out custom struts for any project that might require it.
Increasing our range of own-brand products means we can closely control the supply and manufacturing process, enabling us to offer a quality range of products at consistently great value. When you buy SGS equipment, you can expect your product to conform to the highest performance, safety and quality standards. We’re constantly testing and improving our range with the help of our dedicated Derby based R&D team, and with the help of feedback from our valued customers. At SGS, we prioritise the end user, and ensure that the community of customers we build around our business feels valued and cared for, whilst they know they can rely on us for quality products and expert advice.
