SGS LED Leak Detection UV Light | Rechargeable | 395 Nanometer
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
This torch is designed to illuminate UV‑reactive leak‑detection dyes used in automotive coolant, oil, and air‑conditioning (A/C) systems. When dye is present, the 395 nm UV LED makes leak traces clearly visible at close range.
No. UV leak detection requires fluorescent dye to be added to the system. The torch cannot detect leaks in systems that do not contain dye or have not yet circulated dye to the leak point.
Yes. The 395 nm wavelength is suitable for standard automotive A/C UV dyes. It can highlight dye residue on hoses, compressors, service ports, and condensers. Internal evaporator leaks must be checked via the drain tube, as no handheld torch can see inside the evaporator housing.
This torch is optimised for close‑range inspection (0–30 cm). Dye will still be visible at medium range, but best results are achieved when inspecting directly at the leak site.
Yes. It features IP54 dust/water splash resistance, IK07 impact protection, a 2600mAh rechargeable battery, and hands‑free mounting options, making it suitable for daily workshop environments.
UV mode: up to 4.5 hours
White inspection light: up to 10 hours LED indicators show remaining charge.
It is compatible with most standard automotive fluorescent dyes used in coolant, oil, and A/C systems. Dye colour and brightness may vary depending on brand and concentration.
If no dye is visible, common causes include:
No UV dye present in the system
Dye has not yet circulated to the leak point
Leak is internal or sealed within a component
Inspection performed in bright daylight
Dye residue has been cleaned or wiped away
This does not indicate a fault with the torch.
