great tool chests - sturdy (heavy - ive just lifted one).

Well after a lot of deliberating I ordered the 42” SGS Tool Chest late on Wednesday Night.

It arrived exceptionally well packaged via pallet at 09:30 Today (Friday), with a polite and patient wagon driver (props to your courier there)

First impressions: Impressed- This is a remarkably heavy tool chest for the money. Thankfully it came with the castors bolted on which is a major plus, After unpackaging quickly in the rain, this made it immediately able to be wheeled in out of the weather.

The castors are nice and solid, they roll nicely even over concrete, I dare say they could have softer “tyres” to reduce noise/vibration when rolling but it’s a non-issue really as it’s not really designed to be kept on concrete. The brake levers work well and feel like they will last.

The drawers feel excellent. I was also looking at Halfords Advanced boxes and I’m glad I went with SGS, the drawer slides feel superb, and the lock feels good quality, though it’s a shame they don’t offer a soft close function as a lot of cabinets are doing now, not a major issue, just a minor niggle but it would be nice. Another point with the drawers is that the silver trims don’t feel overly tight and have a little movement, it would further up the class of this cabinet if there were improved on a little.

The unit is nice and sturdy from the getgo, more so with some weight in it. Drawers are well laid out with plenty of space for most things. The paintwork looks great and boats a nice gloss finish straight away, time will tell how it lasts but it feels good quality.

Overall, a superb purchase and I’m more than happy, made all the better by my experience with customer service, Thankyou Sales Agent Nathan. You answered any and all questions I had in good time and with a brilliant attitude. Kudos.

Pros:-
- Value for money
- Heavier duty than it looks online
- Good layout
- Good expandability with extras from the SGS Website
- Nice paint finish
- Smooth drawer action which feels far superior to its price point.
- Nice, Solid heavy duty castors feel sturdy and like they will last.
- Incredibly fast delivery and very well packaged.
- 10yr warranty far exceeds most other competitors at this price point.

Cons:-
- More “rubbery” castor wheels would be nice and reduce rolling vibration/noise when not on a gloss/smooth surface.
- Drawer front trims are nice and do the job, but feel a little flimsy
- No Soft close function on drawers which is becoming more common, it would have put me off a little if the box had been full price and not on offer to be honest as Halfords offer this in boxes half the price.
- Drawer liners are a little thin/fragile. I’ve torn two already and they do tend to ride to the back of the drawer even just utilising the detent drawer retainers.

All in all, very happy with this purchase, as I have been with previous SGS purchases in the past

The roller cabinet arrived very quickly. The quality is excellent and at a very good price. Very pleased with it, so much that I’ve ordered the 26 inch one to go with it!

Aftee owning these products for around a year now I really can not complain. They really are value for money... for me I would like to see double runners on the big top drawer as I have noticed over time they seem not sufficient also if the drawer came out fully that would be a great addition. Maybe.... I'm pushing my luck now but lift up.latches on drawers... like halfords.

Amazing equipment

I have a few bits of kit from SGS now and it's the first place I go for new stuff, great customer service and fast deliverys with quality you can trust for the prices you pay.

My review relates to the customer service experience, which has been excellent. I wanted to manage my delivery slot and was waiting for contact from the courier about this. I contacted SGS via email - and ‘Sean’ responded within minutes. Sean explained everything and was happy to liaise with the courier on my behalf and book my preferred delivery date. Super pleased with that service.. almost anyone else would have said ‘it’s in the couriers hands - and out of our control’. Will definitely shop with SGS in the future.

have bought from them before, I would have bought the more expensive 46" cabinet, but it did not have a lip on the top to stop things rolling of !

Good sturdy build and fantastic value for money.

Tool chest great value for money, well built and just as good as the higher priced versions. Advice - book a delivery slot where there are people in to move it. I booked 3-5 days as there is always someone home and with any company delivering large items there are normally two delivery men to help you in,but the delivery company are only allowed to drop it kerb side, at the time it was only my mum home and the driver was decent enough to get it as close to the door as possible. But if I’d have known I’d of paid the extra for a certain day/time.

he 42" PROFESSIONAL 11 drawer roller Tool cabinet is a very sturdy, well built and most importantly well priced toolbox. Would highly recommend if your looking for a toolbox which is of good value. I found SGS very easy to deal with including a quick turnaround for delivery.

I've delt with SGS Eng. on 2 occasions now and I can't recommend them enough. Ordering is quick and simple, delivery is fast and free, the tool boxes are of excellent quality and the staff are fantastic.

42inch tool cabinet, arrived as communicated upon unboxing cabinet damaged, replaced by SGS within 2 days. Good communication. My review of the cabinet would be 4 star everything as expected only small issue would be the closing of draws are a resistance push, I also have the Halfords professional 26inch cabinet the draw mechanism gives a better feel with a small latch on the lift handle and looks and feels better.

Amazing value for the 11 drawer tool cabinet - good quality and quick delivery considering it was on a pallet. I will be buying from SGS again.

I spent a long time reading reviews and researching a whole range of roll cabs. SGS kept popping up with stinking reviews and with the returns policy and 10 year warranty I reckoned it was worth a go.

Went for the professional range of tool storage and I am glad I did, for £360 this is a really really good unit and gave me some peace of mind that it could handle a lot of heavy tools and wouldnlast a long time. I am not in the motor trade but do a lot of Home spannering so wanted reliable drawers and smooth runners.

As another reviewer said, this is a real hefty bit of kit it is pretty big! And heavy! The drawers are super smooth, the latching mechanism is pretty good don’t have to bang the drawers shut too much to get them to close, the wonders drawers do have a bit of wobble when open but I haven’t filled them yet and in fairness it certainly doesn’t feel like it will break. I won’t move it around much but the wheels are easy to roll along on too.

Overall really pleased, this is a bargain at the sale price I paid, would recommend to anyone needing a big box

Received well packaged , only the handle to attach and you are ready to go. Very solid piece of kit, very glad I opted for a better quality tool chest than a more flimsy model elsewhere that might also have needed building. First impressions positive. Slight niggle that I need to look in to is the swivel wheels, they appear to be very slightly off the ground, but this may be by design. Not had much time to check yet. All in a all though, great buy.

SGS really need to promote this box more, having spent many years as a snap on snob, I have to say this is a box to compete. Well engineered and quality built. I brought this on-line at 14:30 and received delivery at 13:30 next day. Having spent 27yrs in motor trade and having various snap on & mac tool boxes over the years, my last box stolen (luckily had most tools at home) I spent a long time looking for a box, not wanting to spend huge £'s on a snap on or similar box, looked at 2nd hand name brands and cheaper US pro, Sealey, clarke etc, then found SGS, took a gamble and purchased, best value for money on the market in my opinion, box is much larger than pictures do it justice. I have put entire contents of 27yrs accumulated tools in it. Large top drawer holds full (and I mean full) range of 1/2" & 3/8" socket sets, remaining drawers cater for everything else, OK so I'm not full time on the spanners any more, so dont need easy access to everything but this box and maybe a side drawer section would have served me well when on shop floor, instead of the £k's I spent on certain red boxes.
